Harvest Bastion

Harvest Bastion is a legacy circuit used in multiple racing events in the annual SDRL calendar. Originally created for the IAGL before that organisation fell to controversy, its reputation has only grown over the years, especially since the introduction of 'off-road' sections that better suit the capability of SDRL-compliant vehicles.

The race is centred around the eponyous Ilex Bastion, a hollow megastructure that punches deep into the ground and was constructed by the Kryon caravan that decided to settle on the planet. Tight hallways and sharp geometric turns define this circuit, and it has quite the reputation for putting rookie pilots through their paces. Although the interior of Ilex Bastion is the most iconic section of Harvest Bastion, there are also many kilometres of purpose-built track and natural pathways surrounding the megastructure, all of which get used in at least one of the layout variants approved by the SDRL.

The reigning champions of Harvest Bastion are the team Aporyon, who have a home-field advantage due to being based out of the bastion itself. Aporyon's lead pilot Forest is themself responsible for ten of their sixteen wins on this circuit.

The racing vehicle is partially obscured by the yellow leaves of the tree in the diorama. The vehicle is a narrow central hull with mirrored narrow wings up front and two large engine intakes mounted behind the cockpit.
The Goldleaf Oak trees found in this region hold this colour year-round, except for a few weeks in winter, where they are shed and quickly replaced by fresh ones.

Aspara

The racing team Aspara are a relatively minor player in the SDRL, having never broken into the top eight during the qualification season, and therefore having never been eligible to compete in the Class-A competition. That said, they are a well-liked mainstay of Class-C, where they have racked up a handful of wins.

Aspara is based on Earth, in the Sol system. It is organised as a co-op, with ownership distributed amongst each of its 18 members.

Jessica Clark is one of the two qualified pilots registered with Aspara for the thirtieth SDRL season. She has gone on record as wanting to help the team to promote to Class-B.

Aspara flies two lightly modified Viper-pattern hover racing vehicles under numbers 434 and 435. With large fixed engines, Vipers are popular for their impressive acceleration and top speed, though the pattern sacrifices some amount of responsiveness compared to vehicles equipped with thrust vectoring. The current Aspara engineering team has attempted to alleviate this weakness somewhat by installing larger stabilisation fins on the front of the craft, which seems to be serving them well in their current competition tier.

Warning: do not attempt to enter the track channel during active races.

Whilst the exhaust of all Earth-built vehicles must minimise environmental harm by law, we still do not recommend deliberately breathing it in.
