Tech

I am an unrepentent nerd, and I love getting all up in technology. The problem that the modern tech landscape has is, of course, capitalism. Tech should be liberating, fun, it should be ours. We should be able to modify and repair our tech so they can remain relevant for as long as possible, but we're forced to cast them off every few years so that we can be sold a replacement.

This is a place for me to show off my tinkering, or just talk about tech and the environment that cradles it.

Hardware

I like to exert ownership over my hardware by repairing it when it's broken, or modding it when it is not. It makes me feel closer to them, to have poured some of my soul into their upkeep.

I made a custom controller with trigger stops and USB-C.

Web tech

My day job is web development, and I have developed (hah) some quite strong opinions about what makes good web code. In particular, I love HTML; I think it's a beautiful language. It's semantically rich, naturally makes responsive documents, and has decades of development behind it. Please allow me to gush about websites here.

I have spent around three months working on creating this website and I've been preparing to start this project for even longer. So, why have I dedicated so much time and energy to creating a personal website when I could have continued posting on my Twitter account/DeviantArt profile/Tumblr blog?
Although I am a web dev by trade, I actually have little experience making a website from scratch. I have worked on existing projects using a variety of technologies, but never had to decide what tech stack to use since someone else has already made that decision for me. So when I set out to make this website, I, like the foolish rube that I am, decided to google "How to make a website".
